TECH MILLAGE RENEWAL COMING IN MAY 2016

Image of Student with Chromebook
Since 1997, the Countywide Technology Enhancement Millage has provided significant opportunities to our staff and students that directly impact teaching and learning in Bedford classrooms.

One example of the impact that the technology millage has on our District is our 1:1 Learning Initiative. This program currently provides students in grades 4-8 with their own device to integrate technology, both at school and home. With access to digital textbooks, online collaboration, communication, and creation tools, our Bedford students are at a distinct advantage as they transition into higher education and the workplace.

EXAMPLES OF TECHNOLOGY INVESTMENT AT BEDFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS OVER THE LAST 5 YEAR MILLAGE CYCLE:

Projectors installed in all classrooms. Dell Interactive projectors installed in
K-8 classrooms and core classrooms at the SHS.

Purchase of Chromebooks/cases/licensing for 1:1 program in five grade      levels....grades 4-8 in 2015-16 and grades 3-9 and 11 in 2016-17.

     Teacher laptop upgrades

     Infrastructure upgrades

     Classroom computer refresh

Online instructional tools subscriptions for students

Mobile lab and building flex lab upgrades

FOR THE NEXT MILLAGE CYCLE, OUR PLANS INCLUDE:

Expansion of 1: 1 into high school so grades 3-12 will be complete by 2017-18

Refresh 1:1 of aging chromebooks at grades 4 and 8 cycle

Pilot of classroom tablets at K-2 level

     Infrastructure upgrades

     Online instructional tools for students

Implementation of learning management system at secondary level

Begin replacing aging projectors in classrooms
