BEDFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS DISTRICT BRANDING

SHARE YOUR IDEAS!

One of the most exciting parts to this initiative is that we have an opportunity for members of our community to participate in the redesign of both our Kicking Mule school mascot and our district logo. We are inviting any student, staff member, or community member that is interested in sharing design ideas to do so.

SEND US YOUR IDEAS!
Due Dec. 12, 2019

Email your design concepts for consideration in the rebranding initiative by December 12, 2019 to Carl.Shultz@mybedford.us. Please type “District Rebranding” in the subject line to ensure review.

We will share everything we receive with our professional design partners to help formulate options for Board of Education approval. It could be your design chosen!* Remember to use red and gray as the primary colors in your design for Bedford Public Schools. Good Luck!

* Designs may be modified from original submission to best represent the District in required applications.

TRADITION MEETS FUTURE

A brand is much more than a logo or tag line. A brand is the visual representation of everything that an organization believes in, stands for, and promises to its stakeholders.

OUR DISTRICT BRANDING GOAL
At the center of our branding initiative is the belief that Bedford Public Schools represents the best that our community has to offer. By unifying our district’s identity under a single, traditional, and all together unique brand, BPSwill be stronger and betterpositioned to compete in today’s educational landscape.

COMPONENTS OF OUR BRAND
Bedford Public Schools unified brand will include: redesigned and copyrighted district and school logos, colors, fonts, print design for written/digital communication, and architectural design aspects for individual district buildings.

CURRENT PROGESS

District leadership, including members of our Board of Education, have been reviewing our current district brand identification. This process included reviewing current district and building mascots, colors, and logos. The overall conclusion of this effort has been that ALL of our schools and departments provide exceptional experiences for our families, but they do so as individual components rather than as collective members of Bedford Public Schools. To unify our district as a whole, all Bedford Public Schools will share our Kicking Mule mascot and transition to our traditional high school colors of red and gray.

NEXT STEPS

BPS currently works with a number of professional business partners that offer design services at no extra charge as part of our contract. District leadership will soon identify which of these groups we will work closely with to help design our updated district-wide Kicking Mule mascot, district logo, and other brand components.

Our bond architect, Integrated Design Solutions (iDS), has already been exploring ways that our district can include branding into our building designs, without added cost, through use of consistent color and signage. These concepts will be incorporated into our design plan in Phase 1 with construction set to begin in June 2020 at Bedford Senior High School and Jackman Road Elementary School. The design theme will be continued in Phase 2 work during the summer of 2021 at Bedford Junior High School, Douglas Road Elementary School, and Monroe Road Elementary School.
